Managed Hosting Administrator I

We are seeking a Managed Hosting Administrator to assist in system monitoring, incident resolution, and thrilling our growing customer base with excellent customer service.


InMotion Hosting is a growing web hosting company with offices in California, Colorado, and Virginia. We provide shared, VPS, and dedicated hosting to a wide variety of customers. We have a growing network of 1200+ Linux servers, as well as a few self-managed machines running Windows or the stack of the customers’ choosing.


What You’ll Do:

  • Analyze accounts for resource usage, identify resource issues within an account, and initiate outbound contact as appropriate to assist customers with premium site/server optimization.
  • Configure and install software using WHM and the Linux command line.
  • Act as the front line for engagement of customers including understanding their goals and objectives and creating a plan to realize those objectives.
  • Work with designated escalation points to effectively manage unique solutions.
  • Perform migrations customer websites/servers from a wide range of both cPanel and non-cPanel hosts.

Ideal Candidates Have:

  • Basic understanding of server level networking as well as home to data center Internet connectivity.
  • Understanding of the “LAMP” stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/Perl), including but not limited to basic installation and configuration of services and applications that comprise the stack as well as general characteristics of software running in a 'LAMP' environment.
  • Familiarity with web scripting and web applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot/debug common errors with PHP and Perl applications/scripts.
  • Strong understanding of DNS including different record types, and the ability to understand/make changes made with management tools and by editing configuration files directly.
  • Basic understanding of Unix/Linux security model and the importance of maintaining security for passwords/keys.


The below is optional but can help make you a top candidate:

  • 3+ years’ experience providing customer service in a call center environment.
  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent, some college or an associate’s degree preferred.
  • Eagerness to go above and beyond for permanent issue resolution instead of temporary fixes.
